Importing Linux ISO Files

Import has been tested with many of the more popular Linux distributions

such as Ubuntu, Zorin and Mint.

You may encounter errors when booting ISO files with Grub2Win.

Please provide feedback using Grub2Win diagnostics.

Include a link to the ISO download site.

This facility lets you import GNU Grub menu entries from Linux .iso files.

You will be prompted to select an .iso file to be imported.

The .iso file name must not contain embedded spaces.

Grub2Win will scan the contents of the file and attempt to create a Grub2Win menu entry.

The target .iso file will not be altered in any way.

Once the scan is successful, an ISOImport menu will open that lets you view and edit the generated code.

Click OK to complete the import process, then run Grub2Win to completion.

Notes:

You may receive an error message if the .iso file is corrupted or if Grub2Win does not find standard Linux kernel entries.

Required entries are :

A valid Linux kernel - usually named vmlinuz or occasionally linux.

A valid Linux ramdisk file - usually named initrd or initramfs.

The ISO import scan builds the set bootparms= code and and fills in the parameters that work for most Linux distributions.

You may have to change the bootparms to fit your particular distribution and hardware.

Sometimes the nomodeset parameter must be added for certain video cards.

There are literally thousands of Linux distributions and .iso files.

The bootparms often require tweaking to work properly.
