Partition Requirements
On systems running BIOS firmware, the grub2 directory must be placed on disk 0 partition 1 of your machine. Usually C:\grub2
For systems running EFI firmware, the following rules apply:
You can place the grub2 directory on the root of any partition that Windows can read (NTFS or FAT). It can also be placed on USB drives. Most users place the directory on the Windows boot partition at C:\grub2
Examples of possible directory placement:
C:\grub2 ** The usual Windows boot partition **
D:\grub2 ** A second Windows NTFS partition **
N:\grub2 ** A USB drive partition formatted FAT32 **
Notes:
At boot time, grub will search for it's directory and will use the first partition where it is found. To avoid
confusion, you should only have a single grub2 directory.
For clarity, this help file will refer to the grub2 directory as C:\grub2
